Sify Technologies today talked about the importance of Disaster Protection Services on Cloud and how organizations need to ensure business continuity without disturbance in any given situation of disaster at ‘The Second Annual Cloud Computing Summit’ in New Delhi, India.

Adarsh Singh, Practice Head – Cloud, Sify Technologies began the session by talking about Sify’s ‘Three Pillar Approach’ to help organizations move their IT to the cloud. Sify’s service portfolio is broadly categorized in three modules: Adviser, Enabler and Provider.

It takes several iterations with a significant amount of resources to truly ensure that a DR service is reliable in the event of any disaster whatsoever.

The Advisor portfolio consists of Cloud advisory and assessment services, Cloud security assessment and consultancy, Infrastructure analysis and cloud profiling and Business continuity planning services.

The  Enabler service portfolio includes Platform migration services, Infrastructure consolidation, Cloud enablement services and Total infrastructure outsourcing.

The Advisory and Enabler portfolios are professional skill based services extended across Sify Data Centers as well as customer environment.

The Provider service portfolio deals with delivery of IT infrastructure as a service for varied IT deployment needs. It includes Public cloud SifyCloudinfinit, Private cloud services, Hybrid cloud services, DR-as-a-service, Desktop-as-a-service and application services. This service is currently extended from Sify’s Mumbai and Bangalore Tier-III datacenters.

Moving on to Disaster readiness and Business Continuity, Adarsh mentioned how custom built DR plans have a high risk of failure and what makes DRaaS ideal for customers.

“Failure rate of first time DR implementation is 60%. It takes several iterations with a significant amount of resources to truly ensure that a DR service is reliable in the event of any disaster whatsoever,” he said.

Sify’s Disaster Protection Solution offers recovery for various services in multiple situations in a ‘Top-down’ model, as Adarsh put it, including recovery services in the event of Geographical disasters, DC level failures, Application Infrastructure failure, Harddisk/Volume failure, and File/Folder level failure.

Sify’s Disaster Recovery on Cloud Value Proposition consists of:

  • Disaster recovery from multiple geographic data centers.
  • Pay for only two months for full 12 months protection.
  • Scalable to address 100% workloads.
  • NonDisruptive DR Drill capable.
  • Compliance driven with extensive reporting.
  • 24 x 7 reporting and managed DR service.
  • Wide environment coverage ( Windows/Linux/HP UX / IBM AIX/ Solaris) from network to application availability.

The solutions are offered on Sify’s Enterprise Cloud Platform or on a dedicated environment at their Tier III+ Datacenters in Mumbai and Bangalore.
